Os ydych chi newydd ddechrau tyfu planhigion dan dô, dewis planhigyn sy’n hawdd i’w ofalu amdano yw’r dewis cyntaf amlwg. Houseplants for Beginners

If you are just beginning to grow indoor plants, selecting an easy-care plant is the obvious first choice. They will tolerate a wide range of positions and conditions in the home, and are usually forgiving if watering is occasionally forgotten; if they are not placed in the best light, or not given the optimum temperature in which to grow.  No plants will tolerate a site in complete darkness like a windowless room, as they need daylight to produce food for themselves.
Here’s a short list of the best easy-to-care-for houseplants if you’re just getting started or even if you’re an experienced houseplant owner:

Sansevieria – Planhigyn Neidr

Bydd Sansevieria yn hapus mewn rhywfaint o sychder. Maent yn hapus yn yr haul neu gysgod rhannol, yn tyfu mewn lleithder isel ac mae angen compost sy’n draenio’n dda arnynt. Perffaith ar gyfer y garddwr prysur (neu anghofus). Mae’r Planhigyn Neidr yn boblogaidd iawn ac yn hapus i gael eu hanghofio amdanynt.

Sansevieria – Snake Plant

Sansevieria will tolerate some drought. They are happy in sun or part-shade, grow in low humidity and need a well-drained compost. Perfect for the busy (or forgetful) gardener. The Snake Plant is a vertical masterpiece that thrives on neglect.

Dracaena – Coeden Draig

Yn well mewn golau llachar, ond bydd yn hapus mewn rhywfaint o gysgod. Yn gallu dioddef lleithder cymharol isel ac mewn tymheredd ystafell cyfartalog. Dydi nhw ddim yn hoff o fflworid mewn dŵr tap, defnyddiwch ddŵr glaw yn lle. Mae’r planhigyn tŷ poblogaidd a deniadol hwn yn cael ei werthfawrogi am ei natur wydn, hawddgar a’i olwg drofannol dda.

Dracaena – Dragon Tree

Best in bright light, but will tolerate some shade. Tolerant of low relative humidity and in average room temperature. They are intolerant of fluoride in tap water, use rainwater instead. This popular and eye-catching houseplant is prized for its resilient, easy-going nature and tropical good looks.

Spathiphyllum – Lili Heddwch

Yn hapus mewn golau llachar hyd at gysgod llawn. Yn goddef lleithder cymharol isel ac mewn tymheredd ystafell cyfartalog. Yn hapus yn y rhan fwyaf o gyfryngau potio cyn belled â’u bod yn cadw lleithder ac yn draenio’n dda. Planhigion tŷ poblogaidd gyda ‘spathau’ gwyn nodweddiadol tebyg i flodau sy’n sefyll uwchben y dail sgleiniog gan ffitio mewn i unrhyw gartref.

Spathiphyllum – Peace Lily

Tolerates bright light through to full shade. Tolerant of low relative humidity and in average room temperature. Happy in most potting media as long as they are moisture retentive and well-drained. Popular houseplants with distinctive white flower-like spathes that stand above the glossy tropical foliage making elegant additions to any home.

Chlorophytum – Planhigion Pry Cop

Mae’n well gen planhigion pry cop lleoliad llachar dan dô, gyda golau anuniongyrchol neu frith, ond byddant hefyd yn hapus i ddioddef lefelau golau isel. Chlorophytum – Spider Plants

Spider plants prefer a bright position indoors, with indirect or dappled light, but will also tolerate low light levels. This well-known houseplant, with narrow variegated leaves, produces an abundance of spider-like baby plants that cascade downwards. It’s one of the easiest houseplants to grow

Golau: Mae’n well ganddo olau llachar, uniongyrchol ac mae’n ffynnu pan gaiff ei roi mewn ffenestr heulog sy’n wynebu’r de neu’r gorllewin; er y gallant ddioddef cyfnodau byr mewn golau isel, bydd haul annigonol yn gwneud iddyn ymestyn, mynd yn welw a colli eu siâp.

Meet our Houseplant(s) of the Month: Cacti & Succulents! Iconic plants known for their striking shapes, fleshy water-storing stems, and remarkably low-maintenance, resilient nature.

Light: Prefers bright, direct light and thrives when placed in a sunny, south- or west-facing window; while they can endure brief spells in lower light, inadequate sun will cause them to stretch, pale, and lose their shape.

Water: Allow the soil to dry out completely throughout the entire pot between waterings; these desert natives need a thorough soak followed by a long drought and will quickly collapse from root rot if left sitting in damp, stagnant moisture.

Humidity: They thrive in low, dry household humidity. Unlike moisture-loving tropical houseplants, they require good airflow and low humidity, meaning misting, humidifiers, and wet trays should be strictly avoided to prevent fungal issues and stem rot.

Soil: Use a gritty, exceptionally fast-draining cactus and succulent mix, ideally amended with generous amounts of perlite, pumice, or coarse sand to ensure water drains immediately and leaves no excess moisture around the root system.

Safety Note: Many cacti sport sharp spines or microscopic glochids that easily embed in skin, while several popular succulents (like Euphorbias) produce a toxic milky sap that irritates skin and is harmful to pets if ingested, so it’s best to place these sun-loving plants safely out of reach of curious animals and small children.
