Houseplants for Beginners

If you are just beginning to grow indoor plants, selecting an easy-care plant is the obvious first choice. They will tolerate a wide range of positions and conditions in the home, and are usually forgiving if watering is occasionally forgotten; if they are not placed in the best light, or not given the optimum temperature in which to grow.  No plants will tolerate a site in complete darkness like a windowless room, as they need daylight to produce food for themselves.
Here’s a short list of the best easy-to-care-for houseplants if you’re just getting started or even if you’re an experienced houseplant owner:

Sansevieria – Planhigyn Neidr

Sansevieria – Snake Plant

Sansevieria will tolerate some drought. They are happy in sun or part-shade, grow in low humidity and need a well-drained compost. Perfect for the busy (or forgetful) gardener. The Snake Plant is a vertical masterpiece that thrives on neglect.

Dracaena – Coeden Draig

Yn well mewn golau llachar, ond bydd yn hapus mewn rhywfaint o gysgod. Yn gallu dioddef lleithder cymharol isel ac mewn tymheredd ystafell cyfartalog. Dydi nhw ddim yn hoff o fflworid mewn dŵr tap, defnyddiwch ddŵr glaw yn lle. Mae’r planhigyn tŷ poblogaidd a deniadol hwn yn cael ei werthfawrogi am ei natur wydn, hawddgar a’i olwg drofannol dda.

Dracaena – Dragon Tree

Best in bright light, but will tolerate some shade. Tolerant of low relative humidity and in average room temperature. They are intolerant of fluoride in tap water, use rainwater instead. This popular and eye-catching houseplant is prized for its resilient, easy-going nature and tropical good looks.

Spathiphyllum – Lili Heddwch

Yn hapus mewn golau llachar hyd at gysgod llawn. Yn goddef lleithder cymharol isel ac mewn tymheredd ystafell cyfartalog. Yn hapus yn y rhan fwyaf o gyfryngau potio cyn belled â’u bod yn cadw lleithder ac yn draenio’n dda. Spathiphyllum – Peace Lily

Tolerates bright light through to full shade. Tolerant of low relative humidity and in average room temperature. Happy in most potting media as long as they are moisture retentive and well-drained. Popular houseplants with distinctive white flower-like spathes that stand above the glossy tropical foliage making elegant additions to any home.

Chlorophytum – Planhigion Pry Cop
