Apple (Malus) Scrumptious Bush - 12L

Description: Scrumptious is an apple that is something very special. The most popular apple, self-fertile, tasty and easy to grow. Named for its wonderful complexity of flavours it has been carefully bred and selected specifically for our garden conditions. Scrumptious is a mid season variety suitable for planting in all areas of the UK. It is also frost hardy when in flower, thin skinned for children and can be eaten straight from the tree at any time during September. The fruit will naturally stay on the tree without falling. When tasted by apple lovers, descriptions include: fragrant and honeyed, liquorice and wine, a bunch of cherries, fresh, aromatic, soft and delicate, crisp and sweet.

Semi Dwarf. Useful for those wanting a cmpact free-standing tree. There is enough vigour for covering walls as fan-trained trees and spur pruned forms such as traditional crodons. Requires support on most sites. Good for bush and cordons in limited spaces.

Planting Guide:
1. Choose a well drained position. Dig a square hole slightly larger than the pot, loosen the soil in the bottom.

2. Add some compost, a handful of bone meal or sprinkle mycorrhizal fungi over the root ball.

3. Make sure when planting that the trunk of the tree is not buried below the soil.

4. The tree stake should be at an angle, attached about 18 inches up the stem, with the stake on the side that the wind blows from, and the point of the stake driven into firm ground.

5. Note that the 3 ft diameter circle around the tree is free from grass, this means your tree is not competing with the grass for water.

6. The tree tie should be attached in a figure of eight, this provides a cushion between the stake and the stem of the tree.

7. Make sure your tree stays well-watered whilst it has leaves on and check the stake and tie are secure after blustery nights.
