A medium sized deciduous tree, erect when young, spreading with age. The young creamy white leaves appear as candles as they emerge and turn grey-green in summer, russet and gold in autumn. Clusters of creamy white flowers appear in April and May, followed by bright orange-red fruit in the autumn. Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
